🇷🇴 Romania’s financial markets are under pressure as October begins.
The leu has fallen to around 5.35 RON per euro on the interbank market, a new record low, while Romania’s foreign-exchange reserves declined by almost €5 billion in September.
At the same time, the government is planning to borrow 5.8 billion lei in October to refinance debt and help finance the budget deficit.
There are also some positive fiscal signals: the budget deficit for the first eight months of 2026 fell to 2.89% of GDP, compared with 4.51% in the same period last year.
📊 Key numbers to watch:
• EUR/RON: ~5.35
• Budget deficit (Jan–Aug): 2.89% of GDP
• FX reserves: €60.06 billion
• October government borrowing plan: 5.8 billion lei
The coming weeks could be important for Romania’s currency, borrowing costs and sovereign credit outlook.

Green hydrogen is stalling: only 7% of planned global capacity finished on schedule. Geologic "white" hydrogen in Earth's crust could serve hard-to-abate industries without that cost barrier. #Hydrogen #Energy #Decarbonization #Oil

🇺🇸 The US government is trying to stop the bond selloff, but it's NOT working.
The Treasury has more than doubled its bond buybacks, yet the 10-year yield still hit 5.34%, its highest since 2002.
30-year mortgage rates just jumped to 7.28%, the highest since 2023.

First AutoHarness, then AutoContext, now AutoCompact.
I am seeing a rising trend of work that trains models to natively support more of what the harness does.
This work specifically trains agents to decide for themselves when to compact.
