What if some professionals simply don’t fit into one label?

What happens when Google doesn’t quite know how to classify you because you have too many labels — and someone with a much clearer professional identity ends up winning the search?

What happens when AI can’t solve it either?

Give it enough context and, sooner or later, one of a few things happens:

① It flattens you into a generic description.

② It gets you completely wrong.
→ It portrays you as a man.

③ It produces a CV packed with so many labels that it starts to sound less true, not more.

④ Or it simply tells you:

→ You’re an outlier. There isn’t really a label for this.

You say you’re multidisciplinary.

→ In the best case, people don’t quite believe you.
→ In the worst, it sounds as if you’re exaggerating — or claiming to be good at everything.

So how do you explain what you do when you do many things?

How do you explain that you don’t want to choose just one?

That the transversal nature of your work isn’t a recent career pivot.

It has always been there.

And that you don’t necessarily use one discipline to do one thing.

→ You use everything you know to make the thing you’re doing better.

That may be the part our professional labels struggle to capture.

□ Do we make ourselves smaller so we can fit into a box?

□ Do we list every skill, discipline and capability until we sound absurd?

□ Or do we need a different way of describing professionals who see and work across the whole system?

That is the question behind Too Big for One Box.

🚨 Did AGI just arrive? GPT-6 Astra has restarted the debate.

After OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra, some people in the AI world started calling this the beginning of the AGI era.

And you can understand why.

GPT-6 Astra scored 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3, reached 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4, and can autonomously handle increasingly complex tasks involving coding, research, browsers, computers and professional work.

OpenAI president Greg Brockman even said that AGI is a “gray, fuzzy thing” and suggested that, looking back, people may see this period and this model as the beginning of AGI.

But does that mean Astra is definitely AGI?

Not so fast.

OpenAI has historically defined AGI as highly autonomous AI that outperforms humans at most economically valuable work.

And Astra hasn't clearly demonstrated that yet.

For example, despite its incredible reasoning results, OpenAI reports Astra at about 41.4% on AutomationBench and 59.3% on Agents’ Last Exam—far from universal mastery of real-world work.

And that's the important distinction:

🧠 Passing an AGI benchmark ≠ proving AGI
💻 Being superhuman at some tasks ≠ being superhuman at most jobs
🤖 Powerful autonomy ≠ fully general intelligence

So maybe GPT-6 Astra isn't proof that AGI has arrived.

But it could be something historically important:

The point where it became genuinely difficult to agree that it hasn't.

What do you think?

Is GPT-6 Astra AGI—or are we moving the definition every time AI gets better?

AI may be fundamentally different from past technological revolutions because it can increasingly perform cognitive work, not just physical labor. The challenge is capturing AI’s gains without eroding human skills and independence. #AI #FutureOfWork
