Fraud and Scam Prevention
TOKERO Exchange uses transaction monitoring and screening tools to identify and prevent fraud and money laundering. Below are answers to a few common questions about how you can protect yourself.
What is a scam?
A scam is when someone tricks you into sending money or digital assets (such as cryptocurrencies) to a fraudster. Scammers often impersonate trusted individuals or organisations through emails, phone calls, or messages that appear legitimate. Many scams promise unrealistic financial returns or exclusive investment opportunities, frequently promoted through WhatsApp, Telegram, or Signal groups.
How do you spot a scam?
Watch out for the following warning signs: artificial urgency ("act now or miss out"), promises of guaranteed or unusually high returns, requests to move funds to a "safe account", impersonation of banks, regulators, or real company employees, emotional manipulation and requests for remote access to your devices.
How can you protect yourself?
Never make financial decisions under time pressure. Verify the identity of any person or company before sending money. Confirm whether a firm is authorised by checking your local financial regulator`s register. Do not share passwords, one-time codes, or identity documents with anyone you know exclusively online. Always double-check payment details before any transfer, especially for new or high-value transactions.
