At TOKERO, our mission is to make crypto accessible to everyone in a simple, fast and safe way.

Stacks, an exciting and trailblazing project in the crypto space, has emerged as a frontrunner in bringing smart contract functionality to the Bitcoin blockchain. Driven by a desire to expand the possibilities of Bitcoin beyond a mere digital store of value, Stacks has captured the attention of the crypto community with its bold aspirations and potential to redefine the blockchain landscape.

Stacks, formerly known as Blockstack, was founded by Muneeb Ali and Dr. Jude Nelson in 2013. The project set out on a mission to create a decentralized internet, where users have control over their data and digital identities. Initially, Stacks aimed to build a new blockchain from scratch, but it later pivoted to a unique approach.

What sets Stacks apart is its integration with the Bitcoin blockchain. Instead of creating a new blockchain, Stacks uses Bitcoin as its base layer, harnessing its security and network effects. Stacks achieves this through a unique consensus mechanism called "Proof of Transfer" (PoX).

PoX allows participants, known as "Stackers," to lock up Bitcoin as collateral in exchange for newly minted Stacks (STX) tokens. This process secures the Stacks blockchain while simultaneously allowing developers to build decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts on top of Bitcoin.

Stacks introduces a new scripting language called "Clarity," designed to be safe, predictable, and auditable. This enables developers to create smart contracts that execute directly on the Bitcoin blockchain, opening up a world of possibilities for decentralized finance (DeFi), decentralized identity, and more, all within the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Stacks' vision extends beyond just smart contracts. It aims to create a user-centric internet where individuals have ownership and control over their data. With the Stacks technology, users can access decentralized applications while retaining ownership of their data and digital identities.

The launch of Stacks 2.0 marked a significant milestone for the project. It introduced Clarity smart contracts, bringing a new era of decentralized applications to Bitcoin. With Stacks 2.0, developers can build a wide range of applications, from decentralized finance platforms to social networks, all secured by the Bitcoin blockchain.

The team behind Stacks is a talented group of individuals led by co-founders Muneeb Ali and Ryan Shea. Muneeb, who serves as CEO of Hiro PBC, the company behind Stacks, is a mechanical engineering and computer science graduate from Princeton University. Ryan, on the other hand, brings a wealth of experience in software development and product management to the table.

The Stacks team also includes a diverse group of developers, researchers, and community managers who are all dedicated to pushing the boundaries of Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Together, they are shaping the future of decentralized applications and smart contracts on the Bitcoin network.

Stacks stands as a pioneering project that bridges the worlds of Bitcoin and smart contracts. By leveraging Bitcoin's security and network effects, Stacks offers a unique solution to expand the functionality of the Bitcoin blockchain. As the crypto space continues to evolve, Stacks represents a promising endeavor that could revolutionize how we interact with the internet and financial systems.

The integration of smart contracts on Bitcoin is a concept with far-reaching implications, and Stacks is at the forefront of making this vision a reality. As the project continues to grow and develop, it will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of blockchain technology and decentralized applications.
