S&P 500 at 8,000? Not so fast.

Wall Street has its eyes on the 8,000 mark, but getting there might be harder than it looks.

Third-quarter earnings are expected to grow more than 30%, which sounds great on paper. The catch? A huge chunk of that growth is coming from the same handful of tech giants that have been carrying the market all year.

Meanwhile, oil prices are up, Treasury yields remain high, and investors are getting harder to impress.

Even strong earnings might not be enough this time.

The real question isn't whether companies can deliver good results. It's whether they can beat expectations that are already sky-high.

Would you be buying at these levels or waiting for a pullback?
