The domino effect investors need to understand heading into 2027:

Big Tech slows share buybacks
⬇️
Less buying support for stocks
⬇️
Issues $420 billion in debt to fund its AI buildout
⬇️
Investors use that money to buy corporate debt instead of stocks or Treasuries
⬇️
Less demand for Treasuries pushes Treasury yields higher
⬇️
Higher Treasury yields give investors a more attractive alternative to stocks
⬇️
Less money flowing into stocks puts downward pressure on prices
⬇️
The money always has to come from somewhere.

There are so many financial decisions we expect young adults to make almost immediately: get a job, open a bank account, use credit, take out a loan, choose benefits, pay taxes, and maybe even start investing.

But knowing how to earn money and knowing how to manage it are two completely different skills.

I wish we spent more time teaching what these things actually mean BEFORE someone has to make decisions with real financial consequences.

And if you’re reading this at 28, 38, or 58 and realizing nobody taught you some of these things either, that’s exactly why I think these conversations matter.

Financial literacy isn’t knowing everything about money. It’s understanding enough to ask better questions and make more informed decisions.

Wall Street is pretty damn good at predicting earnings… until something goes wrong.

Over the past 25 years, analysts have overestimated earnings by an average of 6.2%.

But remove major events like the dot-com bubble, the 2008 financial crisis, and COVID, and their margin of error shrinks to just 1%.

The takeaway? Trust the estimates, but protect against the unexpected.

With Wall Street calling for 15% earnings growth in 2027, here’s why your portfolio needs both growth opportunities AND hedges against the risks nobody sees coming.

Planning for retirement can feel overwhelming, but knowing the differences between common retirement accounts can help you make informed decisions.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

💸 401(k) Plans are Employer-Sponsored Accounts

👉🏼 Roth 401(k) allows you to contribute after-tax dollars (taxes are paid upfront). Your money grows tax-free, and withdrawals are tax-free in retirement.

👉🏼 Traditional 401(k) uses pre-tax dollars, which lowers your taxable income today. The money grows tax-deferred, but you’ll pay taxes when you withdraw in retirement.

💸 IRAs are Individual Retirement Accounts that you open on your own as long as you have earned income.

👉🏼 Roth IRA contributions are made with after-tax dollars. The money grows tax-free, and withdrawals are tax-free in retirement. There are income limits: single filers must earn less than $153k, and married couples filing jointly must earn less than $242k. You must have earned income to contribute.

👉🏼 Traditional IRA contributions use pre-tax dollars, offering immediate tax deductions. The money grows tax-deferred, and you’ll pay taxes on withdrawals in retirement.

So which account is right for you?

If you expect to be in a lower tax bracket in retirement, Traditional accounts might make sense. If you expect to be in a higher tax bracket or want tax-free income in retirement, consider Roth accounts.
