Stronger lending, slower deposit growth: a fresh signal from Romanian banking
Société Générale’s results, published on 29 October 2026, show its Romanian operations reached €11 billion in outstanding loans in the third quarter—up 11.3% year on year, with growth across both individual and business customers. GlobeNewswire

Deposits grew more slowly, increasing 2.1% to €14 billion, mainly supported by individual customers. Both growth rates are adjusted for currency movements and changes in the group’s business scope. GlobeNewswire

Revenue tells a more measured story: quarterly banking revenue in Romania rose 1.5% on the same adjusted basis to €189 million, with higher net interest income offsetting lower fee income. GlobeNewswire

The takeaway: faster lending growth does not automatically translate into equally strong revenue growth. For those following Romanian banking, these results put the balance between lending, deposits and earnings in focus.

The next question: will stronger lending translate into lasting investment and business expansion?

A smaller deficit is encouraging. The growing interest bill deserves attention, too.

Figures released on 26 October show Romania’s cash budget deficit reached RON 78.3 billion, or 3.81% of GDP, in January–September 2026. That compares with RON 102.47 billion and 5.31% of GDP in the same period of 2025.

Government revenue increased by 11.9%, outpacing expenditure growth of 5.5%. Public investment also rose, reaching RON 107.77 billion—so the improvement did not come alongside a fall in total investment spending.

But there is a counterweight: interest payments on public debt climbed to RON 50.63 billion, up RON 10.69 billion year on year.

The challenge now is to sustain the fiscal improvement while preserving investment that supports long-term growth.

🚨 BREAKING: Oil Prices Are Climbing Again!

Crude oil is back in the spotlight as tensions in the Middle East raise concerns about global energy supplies.

🥤🚨 **PEPSI JUST LOST KFC TO COCA-COLA — AND IT COULD COST MILLIONS!** 💸

The legendary soda wars just took a dramatic turn! 🔥

After decades of partnership, KFC is reportedly dropping Pepsi in thousands of US restaurants and switching to Coca-Cola starting in January 2027.

And the financial impact could be significant. 👀

🔥 **Here's what you need to know:**

🥤 **Coca-Cola Wins Big:** KFC is switching its US beverage supplier from PepsiCo to Coca-Cola.

💰 **$50 MILLION AT STAKE:** Analysts estimate PepsiCo could lose approximately $50 million in annual revenue, representing roughly $350–$400 million in retail beverage sales.

📉 **More Pressure on PepsiCo:** The company is already facing weakening North American demand, competitive challenges, and stock-market pressure.

🍗 **A Historic Partnership Ends:** PepsiCo once owned KFC before spinning off its restaurant businesses in 1997.

🌍 **Not a Global Breakup:** PepsiCo is expected to continue supplying KFC restaurants outside the United States.

📊 **The Bigger Picture:**

This isn't just about which soda gets served with fried chicken.

It's another major victory for Coca-Cola in the battle for restaurant partnerships, brand loyalty, and market share.

With PepsiCo already struggling to regain momentum, losing a longtime partner like KFC raises important questions about its competitive position.

💬 **THE BIG QUESTION: Is Coca-Cola winning the soda wars, or can PepsiCo make a comeback?** 🥤
