📊 **Markets are recalibrating after a major political shift in Washington.**

U.S. stocks and bonds rallied Wednesday after Democrats won control of Congress in the midterm elections, while the dollar weakened. Investors appear to be pricing in greater policy constraints and potentially less fiscal expansion — a combination that could ease some pressure on Treasury yields.

At the same time, **AI remains one of the biggest forces — and risks — in global markets.** AMD issued a stronger-than-expected sales outlook on booming demand for data-center processors, but investors are increasingly questioning the huge amounts of capital flowing into AI infrastructure. Political scrutiny of new data centers is also rising.

💰 Other developments worth watching:
• Gold is trading above $4,000 after another sharp move higher.
• U.S. 10-year Treasury yields are hovering around 4.9%.
• Oil remains near $95 a barrel.
• Markets are also preparing for Friday’s U.S. jobs report, which could influence expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision.

**The bigger theme:** politics, inflation, interest rates and the AI investment boom are becoming increasingly interconnected. For investors, the next few weeks may be less about one headline and more about how these forces reshape growth and monetary-policy expectations.

Wall Street’s view of Big Tech may be far more bearish than many investors realize.

Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta and Oracle are growing revenue at an average rate of about 21% — yet they trade at an average forward P/E of roughly 20.7x.

Meanwhile, slower-growing Costco and Walmart are trading at significantly higher multiples.

Why the disconnect?

Investors are increasingly focused on massive AI capital spending, weakening free cash flow and whether hyperscalers will eventually need to rein in spending to satisfy shareholders.

The AI story isn’t disappearing. But the market is clearly demanding something new: proof that enormous AI investments can translate into equally enormous returns.

📊 **Markets are entering a high-stakes stretch.**

Global investors are balancing several major forces at once:

• **AI remains a powerful market driver**, with Wall Street executives reporting strong demand for large AI-related deals — even as concerns grow about the scale of financing and infrastructure spending.

• **Market volatility could be underpriced.** The FT reports unusually large differences in performance between individual stocks, raising the risk that broader indexes could become much more volatile if correlations suddenly rise.

• **Bond investors are watching Washington closely**, with the U.S. midterm elections, Treasury borrowing plans, inflation and interest-rate expectations all influencing positioning.

• **Oil and geopolitics remain critical**, while shifting expectations around U.S.–Iran relations continue to move energy markets.

The bigger takeaway: markets may look resilient on the surface, but underneath, investors are navigating significant uncertainty across rates, AI spending, geopolitics and fiscal policy.

The next market move may be less about one headline — and more about how these risks interact.
