🛡️Romania’s Multi-Billion € Defense Boost via SAFE Program!
The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) has detailed the mega-procurement plans fueled by the EU's SAFE funding framework, aiming to modernize the military and inject billions back into the domestic defense industry.
What's on the shopping list:
🪖 The Big Ticket: A €3.3 Billion contract with Germany's Rheinmetall for state-of-the-art tracked infantry fighting vehicles (partially produced in Mediaș).
🚁 Air & Air Defense: 12 next-gen military helicopters (partially built at IAR Brașov), Mistral missiles in partnership with France, and 3 anti-aircraft defense systems cooperating with Germany.
⚓ Naval & Small Arms: A €760 Million rescue plan to operationalize the Mangalia Shipyard for 4 new naval vessels, alongside assault rifle and ammunition production at Cugir and Sadu.
Half of the total €10+ billion defense package is strategically structured to return directly into Romania's own economy. 🏗️🛠️
