I achieved what was my “dream body” for such a big part of my journey but realised it didn’t give me the life I wanted to live.
Now this post isn’t about saying weight loss can’t ever be a goal, as a coach, I’ve helped hundreds of women lose fat in a healthy and sustainable way. Fat loss can absolutely be a valid goal when it’s approached in a way that supports your health, lifestyle and long term wellbeing but I also think we’ve been conditioned to believe that weight gain is always a negative outcome, and that’s simply not true.
The reality is that your healthiest body is not always your lightest body. Sometimes the chase of being smaller can come at the cost of your relationship with food, your energy, your performance, your hormones, your confidence, and your ability to be present in your life.
For me, gaining 9kg meant moving away from constantly trying to see more conditioning to feel like I looked the part and it meant fuelling my body properly, supporting my training, recovering better, getting my cycle back, and building a body capable of doing things I never thought possible.
What I wish more women understood is that weight alone tells us very little about health.
-You can be lighter and under-fuelled.
-You can be leaner and exhausted.
-You can be smaller and completely consumed by thoughts of food.
And you can also be heavier, healthier, stronger, and happier. The goal shouldn’t be to weigh as little as possible.
The goal should be to build a body that allows you to live the life you want to live. For me, that body is 9kg heavier than it used to be and I’d choose this version of me every single time💛
