Will Siegfried Mureșan be validated as Romania's PM? 🇷🇴

President Nicușor Dan officially nominated Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan for Prime Minister today (17 Sept 2026). However, his validation remains highly uncertain.

Here is the situation:
• The Goal: Mureșan has 10 days to form a cabinet and secure a minimum of 233 votes in Parliament.
• The Roadblock: There is no clear parliamentary majority. While he has centre-right backing (PNL, USR, UDMR), the major opposition parties (PSD and the far-right) strongly oppose him.
• What's Next: If Mureșan fails to get the votes to form a reformist government, Romania faces a major political deadlock that could trigger snap elections.

A leaked EU assessment signals a major shift in renewable fuels policy after 2030. Brussels could replace binding national hydrogen mandates with an EU-wide 8M-tonne target while giving biofuels more flexibility. #Hydrogen #Biofuels #EU #Energy

Europe’s biggest challenges — climate change, affordable housing, energy security and social resilience — cannot be solved by governments or markets acting alone.

The social economy should be treated as a strategic partner for Europe, not simply as a sector to support.

Cooperatives, social enterprises, associations and community-led initiatives already demonstrate how local ownership and participation can translate European ambitions into practical solutions — from housing and climate adaptation to renewable energy.

And the scale is significant. The European Commission’s latest review describes more than 4.3 million social economy organisations supporting at least 11.5 million jobs across the EU.

As discussions around Europe’s next long-term budget intensify, the question should therefore not only be how do we fund the social economy?

It should also be: how do we make the social economy a genuine partner in delivering Europe’s future?

Europe's energy efficiency is proving more resilient than headline GDP suggests. The EU now uses 44% less energy per euro of output than in 1995, helping cushion the economic impact of the Hormuz crisis and higher oil prices. #Europe #Energy #EU
