Just updated my “in case of death” box for 2026.

I do it once a year to make it easy for my family and friends to handle life as best as they can without me.

It is not a fun topic or a fun activity, but it is necessary to make sure that my loved ones can handle things properly when I pass away.

This is a part of my estate planning.

I discuss estate planning thoroughly in the last chapter of my book “So This Is Why I’m Broke” because I feel it is a big piece of financial wellness that is often an after thought.

I not only estate plan for myself, as the eldest daughter you know I also have to make sure my parents have their ish together as well.

And truly it’s even harder to do it with them than my self.

You don’t have to tackle this entire list yourself ! Make a promise to yourself to do 1-3 items on the list this week.

Then you can continue to work through the list depending on what is relevant to you and your needs.

Parents, loving your adult children doesn't mean you have to keep paying their bills.

One of the most important things you can teach your children is how to take financial responsibility for themselves.

Health insurance is a perfect example. Yes, you can keep your adult children on your health insurance until they're 26. But if they're working and have access to benefits through their employer, it's time to sit down together and compare their options.

If their employer's plan offers comparable coverage at a reasonable cost, it may be time for them to take on that responsibility.

And if you can afford to help them make the transition, I have no problem with that. But don't continue paying out of guilt or habit.

Remember, your job as a parent isn't to carry your children financially forever. It's to help them become strong enough to stand on their own.

Taking care of your health today is one of the smartest investments you can make in your retirement.

Exercise and a healthier diet aren't just about how you feel right now. They're about giving yourself the best chance at a retirement you can truly enjoy.

Of course, there are diseases and health challenges far beyond our control. But the choices we make each day can make a difference.

The better you feel, the more energy you'll have to enjoy your retirement. And entering retirement in better health may also mean spending less on health care.

Remember, it's not just about having enough money to retire. It's about being healthy enough to enjoy the retirement you've worked so hard for.

One of the top money regrets I see all the time is waiting for “someday.”

I'll get around to it. I'll do it someday.

What keeps people from doing what they know they should do with their money? They're doctors. They're lawyers. They've raised families. They are capable people. But when I ask if they did what they knew they needed to do, I hear: “Not yet. I'll do it someday.”

Someday has to be the most expensive word in the English language.

You cannot wait for someday. Your new word has to be today.

I am doing it today.

Financial stress is real, but you don't have to carry it alone. 📉 If money is weighing on you today, try these 3 steps to regain control:

1️⃣ Take inventory (Face the numbers).
2️⃣ Start small (Consistency > intensity).
3️⃣ Break the silence (Talk about it).

Small shifts lead to big progress. 💡
