Moving on with a new article in the series „<em>Behind the Scenes Stories of TOKERO</em>”, and today it's about a very special person to me, but not only to me. Whoever gets to work with him and really wants to thrive, will certainly look up to him as an extraordinary source of inspiration.

Behind the Scenes Stories of TOKERO – Part 2

	<li>During 2019-2021, the turnover has increased 125 times, from €20 thousand in 2019 to €2.5 million in 2021;</li>
	<li>Over the same period, the client portfolio increased 5.5 times, from 5.5 thousand clients at the end of 2019 to 30.1 thousand clients at the end of 2021;</li>
	<li>In terms of traded volumes, 2021 depicted a threefold increase compared to the previous year, reaching €75 million, up from €25 million in 2020;</li>
	<li>At the end of 2021, the group of companies was valued at €15 million, based on the DCF (discounted cash-flows) method.</li>

<h4>The Route from Start-Up to Scale-Up</h4>

<p>Five years ago, cryptocurrencies were not so well known in Romania, as the whole industry was still in its early stages. However, in 2017, two Romanian entrepreneurs saw the opportunity of this market and envisaged to open it to the general public. <a href="https://life.ro/criptomonedele-pe-intelesul-tuturor-profesor-marius-mora-cofondatorul-celei-mai-mari-platforme-de-crypto-exchange-din-romania-sau-cum-reuseste-un-baiat-de-la-tara-care-a-castigat-primii-bani-din-c/">Marius Morra</a> and <a href="https://www.capital.ro/sabin-simionescu-viitor-doctor-in-blockchain-aceasta-tehnologie-asigura-siguranta-pentru-o-lista-nelimitata-de-activitati.html">Sabin Simionescu</a> aimed, at that time, to develop a company in the Romanian cryptocurrency market and to reduce the perceived shortcomings of potential customers and investors through easy access solutions to this new class of financial assets.</p>

<p>Therefore, in March 2018, the platform called <a href="https://tokero.com/">www.ldvbank.com</a> was released, which subsequently went through a relaunch in March 2019, thanks to the first pivot on the business model. That first release was a source of business lessons in this untapped cryptocurrency niche, and at the startup level, pivots on the business are an expected part of the learning and development process. In March 2019, the expansion of LDV Bank started both in terms of number of customers and volumes traded, but also in terms of new functionalities offered to users. The following years highlighted a continuous brand, product and team development, leading to the successful completion of <a href="https://www.zf.ro/cryptobusiness/fintech-ul-ldv-exchange-devine-tokero-si-anunta-ca-a-atras-o-runda-20087629">the first round of funding and rebranding into TOKERO Crypto Exchange in May 2021</a>.</p>

<h4>Financial reporting for 2021: Romanian cryptocurrency exchange TOKERO ended the year with a turnover of €2.5 million, traded volumes of €75 million and a valuation of €15 million.</h4>

<p>TOKERO is experiencing some of the most spectacular growth in the Romanian cryptocurrency market, both financially and operationally, as a product and as a team. If in 2019, the company had a portfolio of only 5.5 thousand customers, by the end of 2021 <u>TOKERO reached 30.1 thousand customers, increasing more than five times within this period</u>. As a result of the friendly interface, the users are confident to trade on the platform, and this can be observed from the <u>total volume of transactions</u> reported, of <u>€75 million at the end of 2021</u>.</p>

<p>As of mid-2021, TOKERO has launched a new business segment, appreciated by users of the cryptocurrency platform. Specifically, from September <u>TOKERO has started listing new projects as <a href="#launchpad-description">launchpads*</a></u>. This innovation has reinforced the idea that TOKERO is the right choice for anyone who is a cryptocurrency enthusiast, but it has also generated significant revenues of €1.5 million and contributed to the increase in the number of customers on the exchange segment. For two of the listed projects, <b>Humans.AI</b> and <b>BH.Network</b>, TOKERO managed to raise <b>funds of 1 million USDT each in just a few days</b> (USDT - stablecoin at 1:1 parity with the US dollar).</p>

<p>As a result of the services it offers, TOKERO ended 2021 with <u>a consolidated group turnover</u> (Globe Monnaie SRL – exchange, and LDV Tech SRL – launchpad) <u>of about €2.5 million</u>, 125 times higher compared to the turnover of €20,000 recorded in 2019.</p>

<p>According to the two founders, it's all thanks to the team behind the scenes, the most important component of the business. <u>The team has expanded considerably in just one year</u>, from 5 members in 2020 to more than 21 specialists in 2021, half of them allocated to the operational area (support, marketing and compliance) and half in the IT department.</p>

<p>Along with the establishment of the new office in Bucharest, in the Hermes Business Campus office complex, also arose <u><a href="https://tokero.team/">www.TOKERO.Team</a> – an ongoing recruitment programme for the TOKERO Group</u>. The aim of developing and launching the recruitment platform is to attract new talents to the team, both people with crypto knowledge and people who are highly trained in their fields, who seek premium professional opportunities and new challenges. Starting in August, those interested in applying their knowledge in crypto as well are invited to submit their CVs on the <a href="https://tokero.team/">www.tokero.team</a> platform. The initial positions will be open on HR, accounting, marketing, IT, management.</p>

<h4>What are the future plans for the TOKERO exchange founders?</h4>

<p><b>Marius Morra</b>, one of the youngest entrepreneurs in Crypto and Blockchain, is the CEO and Co-Founder of TOKERO. <p>The second round of funding is an open round this time, compared to the first one, which was a closed round. <em>"We aim to raise €1.5 million, out of which half is already secured. We’re now publicly announcing  the round because we want to attract investors from outside our community as well, we will have for sure pleasant surprises,"</em> Marius Morra justifies.</p>

<p>The popularity and interest in NFTs have grown considerably over the last year. More and more celebrities, artists, and well-known companies are getting involved into the blockchain technology. That is why we decided to write about this topic. We will explain what NFTs are and how you can create and promote them.</p>

<h4>What are NFTs?</h4>

<p>NFT, short for "non-fungible token", is a unique physical and digital asset. It can be a work of art, game collection, fashion collection, music track, etc. Each NFT has a unique code identifier and metadata, which is registered on the blockchain. Non-fungible tokens differ from fungible tokens, such as cryptocurrencies, as one NFT will never be equivalent to another NFT, whereas a Bitcoin, in terms of price, will always be equal to another Bitcoin.</p>

<p>Since NFTs are cryptographic digital assets, they can be easily authenticated. They are unique, valuable, quantitatively limited and cannot be duplicated. The crypto field and blockchain technology are very complex, but also fascinating.</p>

<p>Art passionates can enjoy owning masterpieces in digital format, thus getting closer to the creator or being satisfied with their new acquisition. The Romanian market is no slouch when it comes to NFTs either. Last year, 2021, saw the launch of the <a href="https://www.stramosi.com/">Stramosi</a> project, which proved to be a success. And we, at <a href="https://tokero.com/">Tokero</a>, prove that you can create an NFT or an entire collection yourself.</p>

<h4>How to create an NFT</h4>

<p>The only tools you need are creativity and different, unique, appealing ideas. The creative process is sure to captivate you if you're curious and open to the new. We invite you to join us in designing our first collection of NFTs and learn how to create.</p>

<p>The first step in creating an NFT is research and the idea itself of the visual look you want for it. After that, you get down to the practical side: create! The method of creation is compositing layers. Discover the pictures below to understand exactly what it's all about.</p>

<p>You can use Adobe Illustrator or even Canva to create the layers. It is important to choose the backgrounds and export the other elements separately with transparent backgrounds. The size of the visuals should be 1:1.</p>

<p>Our NFTs consist of 3 layers, 1080 x 1080 px size, and as you can see in the pictures, we used Adobe Illustrator.</p>

<p>Since we have the layers, we can load them into the NFT generator and get a whole collection of visuals, even 10,000, without doing this enormous work manually.</p>

<p>Each print screen contains layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3. However, different backgrounds and elements are needed for each layer, so that the generator will provide unique visuals for NFTs as a final result.</p>

<p>At the end of January 2022, the Belgian politician took an unprecedented decision. Christophe De Beukelaer, member of the Belgian Parliament, became the first European politician to convert his salary into Bitcoin (BTC). This experiment, which was celebrated by Cointelegraph, proved that politics can be combined with blockchain technology.</p>

			<p>Beukelaer, who represents the Humanist Democratic Center (CDH) party, explained that he decided to take this action after seeing how other American politicians understood the importance of blockchain technology and the role it could play in the development of their hometowns. Beukelaer said his monthly salary of €5,500 ($6,140) will be converted into Bitcoin using the Bit4You crypto trading platform.</p>

			<p>“<em>I did this political act of paying in Bitcoin to defend some political ideas</em>”, explained Beukelaer, citing four of them: defending financial freedom, defending economic opportunity, fighting financial ignorance, and fighting the growth model. The last is perhaps the most interesting, as the deputy sees a clear link between Bitcoin and the environment clause: “<em>What does the central bank do when it prints money as it has done in recent years? It gives the illusion of infinite resources and thus encourages all economic actors to produce and consume more and more.</em>”</p>

			<p>Beukelaer considered the experiment a success both in putting Belgium on the global cryptocurrency map and in encouraging local officials to educate themselves about digital assets.</p>

			<p>However, it should be noted that Beukelaer's experiment was not comforting from a practical point of view. Although BTC fell from January 2022, when it reached almost $38,000, to $17,246 at the time of publication in January 2023, the deputy did not envision his experiment as an economic strategy from the start:</p>

			<p>“<em>It was a political act and not a financial gesture. Like those who grow mustaches in November to fight prostate cancer. I put this salary in Bitcoin on a cold wallet every month and I haven't touched it. My goal was not to live in crypto, but to show that we can make important changes through such actions.</em>”</p>

			<p>Through this action, Christophe De Beukelaer has proven that it is possible to combine politics with blockchain technology, and that we can make important changes through simple, but significant actions. Every action counts, and every contribution counts.</p>

<p><strong>You may have often encountered the terms SEPA or SWIFT when making bank transfers, but you never knew exactly what these terms meant? Both are ways of making intentional payment, banks needing a safe way to communicate financial information internationally.</strong><p>

<p><strong>SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area)</strong> is a euro payment system included in the countries of the European Union and in the other European countries. SEPA was created to facilitate intra-community payments in Europe through the standardisation and simplification of euro transactions.</p>

<p>SEPA is regulated by the European Central Bank and the European Government, and its use is mandatory for all financial institutions in the countries included in the area. SEPA allows euro transactions to be made quickly and cheaply, similar to the way dollar transactions are made in the United States.</p>

<p>To use SEPA, a financial institution must register as a member of the SEPA system and receive a unique identifier code known as "IBAN" (International Bank Account Number). This IBAN code is used to identify the financial institution's bank account within the SEPA system and to allow intracommunity fund transfer.</p>

<p>SEPA is an important step in the integration of Europe's financial markets and facilitates intra-community trade through the simplification and standardisation of euro transactions.</p>

<p>In addition, through this article we would like to inform you that TOKERO exclusively uses SEPA transfers.</p>

<p>Currently, SEPA is implemented in the following countries:</p>

<p>In total, SEPA includes approximately 38 countries and over 500 million consumers and businesses.</p>

<p><strong>SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication)</strong> is an international banking transfer system that allows financial institutions worldwide to exchange information about banking transactions. SWIFT was created in 1973 to facilitate the transfer of financial information between financial institutions in different countries and quickly became one of the most important international financial institutions.</p>

<p>SWIFT operates through a network of message centres, known as the "SWIFT network", which connects financial institutions worldwide. The use of SWIFT is voluntary and is not limited to euro transactions, but can be used for transactions in any currency.</p>

<p>To use SWIFT, a financial institution must register as a member of the SWIFT network and receive a unique identifier code known as the "BIC code" (Bank Identifier Code). This BIC code is used to identify the financial institution within the SWIFT network and to allow the transfer of information about banking transactions.</p>

<p>SWIFT provides an efficient and secure banking transfer mechanism that is used by financial institutions worldwide to conduct international transactions.</p>

<p><strong>The main differences between SEPA and SWIFT are:</strong></p>
<ol>
	<li>SEPA is a euro payment system, while SWIFT is a global banking transfer system that can be used for any currency.</li>
	<li>SEPA aims to facilitate intra-community payments in Europe, while SWIFT is used worldwide.</li>
	<li>SEPA provides standardisation and simplification of euro transactions, while SWIFT provides an efficient and secure banking transfer mechanism.</li>
	<li>SEPA is regulated by the European Central Bank and the European Government, while SWIFT is an independent organisation that operates in the interests of its members.</li>
	<li>SEPA is mandatory for all financial institutions in the countries included in the zone, while SWIFT is used voluntarily by financial institutions around the world.</li>
</ol>
